AboutBirth name: William Michael Matsuoka
Birth month: October Californian Hi everyone, my name is William Matsuoka – although I almost exclusively go by Will, never Bill, sometimes Professor Matsuoka, and commonly mistaken as Matt. I grew up in California, specifically in Rocklin, which is a suburb of the Greater Sacramento Area and have spent a good amount of time in San Francisco, Tahoe, Los Angeles, and currently reside in San Diego – otherwise known as America’s Finest City. When the sun is shining, I like to golf, play tennis, run, and go to the beach. Otherwise I enjoy staying indoors, watching comedies, listening to music (from Tchaikovsky to Taylor Swift), and playing with my own personal data or scraping web data using my favorite statistical software package: Stata. During the workweek, I spend most of my time at San Diego Gas & Electric - because I work there, not for fun - where I forecast electric demand among other things. I also lecture at San Diego State University, which is a nice break from the day-to-day grind. I have a master’s degree in economics from Sac State (which turned out to be a very great investment) and a bachelor’s degree from UC Davis. If you’d like to use my bio for some reason or another, try this out:
